BFF’s

I want to thank Katie and her friends for allowing me to share in this special moment with them. Although they have all gone their separate ways since college they still make it a point to get together at least once a year and invest time into maintaining their relationship. Living in different states is a challenge but their friendship is important to them so they do what it takes. With how incredibly nuts life can get with work, family, kids and just pain old living, you gotta respect that.

It was so nice to be able to capture the spirit of their friendship, a bit quirky, funny, and sophisticated these five girls know what it means to preserves relationships, be a friend and enjoy the company of one another. They all represent different stages of life that we all go through. One was about to have her first baby, another just got married, some are in medical school, and others are looking for love, hopefully in all the right places. Photos can be a celebration of where you’ve been , where we are, and where we are going. I love to celebrate being alive.

For this shoot I was on a mission to find a location that was really special, a place I hadn’t shot before, a location that would help me capture their style. I kept driving past this antique shop and since I knew this shoot was coming up I popped in asked the owner if I could bring a few clients over for a photo shoot, he said “Sure, anytime.”I was stoked and I knew that with the combination of such great clients, and a perfect location, this shoot would for sure become one of my favorites. Being able to think outside of the box helps me get to the heart of these moments and create unique images that will honor everything these pictures mean.

I have to mention how special Katie has become to us, the special interest she has takenĀ  in our youngest son Jet. She has been his teacher for two years now, and this has been a profound blessing. She gets him, (which earns alot of points with us) and its helping him to thrive. To find a teacher willing to take the time to tune into the nuttiness of an 8 year old - Wow! we’ve fallen in love with her.

Jill and Jeremy

Meet Jill and Jeremy this post is the first of two sets I’ll be showing you, these are from the second shoot we did. Our shoot started in the open fields in Redlands, then we rushed off to shoot at some of the vineyards in Temecula. We almost made it but on the way the sun was setting so fast, and I was afraid of loosing the light, so we decided to pull over in Perris and take advantage of some interesting locations I found there. You know its amazing how sometimes when your not even looking magical places materialize this was really the perfect backdrop for their portraits.
Afterward we went to diner and I learned a bit more about them. Jeremy is a forensic accountant (highly technical sounding profession and some what intimidating - I just keep thinking IRS). And Jill is a nurse. these guys just feel right, real chemistry and you could feel it. Our diner was great, Its so nice to mix my work with good times.
Oh, and Jeremy I gotta apologize for the Fringe spoiler - just forget what I said and enjoy the show. I look forward to your wedding in October.
Look out for the first part of our shoot coming soon!

Saurette - Summer

One last look at the beautiful and sophisticated summer line of cloths for little girls 2-12 from Saurette. I really enjoy shooting this line it makes me think about how great and unique the little girl experience can be. The girls had a great time with the cupcakes, candy and giggles we brought as props on this shoot, and of course loved the cloths.

Shop now at Saurette

And starting next week I’ll start to show the fall line which features LA artist JAW | (portfolio)

Whats to Wear to your Photo Shoot- Summer 2010

Some of you have been asking me what to wear to your family photoshoots. So, today I came up with a few outfits and ideas for you. Here are some things to keep in mind as you make you wardrobe decisions.

  • You don’t all have to match, when I say match I mean everyone does not have to be in a white shirt and jeans. Everyone can be an individual while complementing the rest of the colors and styles in the family.
  • Stay away from busy prints and big logos, you wouldn’t want one person to standout too much from the others.
  • Choose 3 - 4 colors, then create outfits that mix and match those colors
  • Play with a bright accent color that you can sprinkle around everyone’s outfits.
  • Think about who you are as a family, when your all doing the things you love to do together and let that inspire you. Most of all remember to have fun with it.

The Kurian Wedding

The bride got ready at the Mission Inn, it provided the perfect backdrop for all the romantics. Its so important to take time with these super important pictures the couple needs time to relax and enjoy each other without being rushed or worried about prying eyes.

We left the Hotel for Castaways in the San Bernardino Mountains and the view there was breathtaking. The bride looked stunning as her father walked her down the aisle. lots of his family flew in from Thailand and India there was a fusion of many cultures.

The thing that i recall mist about the shoot way the way that Rajeev looked at her through out the day, his quiet tender nature and the love I could see in his eyes. His goal was to be sure his brides wishes came true, it was clear he did as they danced together for the first time as husband and wife.

Rajeev and Kay, I wish you true love and happiness.
