My kids are absolutely obsessed with TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus Eight. If you have not seen this show check out the Gosselin’s as they juggle life with twins and a set of sextuplets while managing to stay sane. On Monday’s show, Kate spent time with her 5 girls making Monkey Munch and thus began Jet’s and Gio’s quest to make their own Monkey Munch.
Gio went online and did a search yesterday and found the recipe for the Monkey Munch on recipezarr.com so I thought the least I could do was take a break from editing and make it with them. It was a real fun afternoon spending time with my two boys eating chocolate, licking peanut butter off our fingers and of course fighting about why I only used half the chocolate and peanut butter that the recipe called for (I am trying to cut calories anyway I can). Well here is a pic of the finial product - and yes it was so yummy it only lasted a few hours.

If you would like to try this recipe with your kids here it is:
- 9 cups Chex cereal (any variety)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter or
- margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- Put chex in a large bowl and put aside.
- Place chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter into a quart-sized microwavable bowl.
- Stir the ingredients together.
- Microwave the mixture uncovered for a minute on “high.” Stir the mix again and continue to zap in thirty second intervals until it mixes smoothly.
- Add the vanilla and stir.
- Pour over the cereal while stirring.
- Put combination into a 2-gallon, Ziploc freezer bag.
- Add powdered sugar, seal the bag and shake until distributed.
- Spread Monkey Munch out on wax paper to cool and dry.
- Keep refrigerated in an airtight container for storage
